Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Hatchi, South Nuratau Range. Y.I. Loskin et al. in 1965 in the volume of middle Llandovery (1965). Later, A.A. based on graptolite finds, assigned it to the upper part of the lower to middle Llandovery (271, pp.41-42). The term is no longer in use.

Synonym: Khatchinskaya Suite, Хатчинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Lower part of the section - clay-slate, interbedded with quartz siltstone (aleurolites) and sandstones containing graptolites of the upper lower-middle Llandovery.

Upper part - terrigenous flysch, represented by rhythmically alternating sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), clayey, sometimes phyllitic slates.

Thickness 300-400 m.

Regional extent

South Nuratau range, southern slope and watershed part of Karakchatay. In the modern understanding, the lower part of Khatchin Fm belongs to the Nakrut Fm, the upper part is an age and lithological analogue of the Nauchat Fm (Korsakov et al., 1993).
